July 05, 2007 - Get it on...like fascism!
Today I'm on the topic of our government's ongoing suriade to continually corral its people and their activities. What really bothers me more is the people's willingness to let so much of this happen. Simply we have gotten to used to the good life not enough people are really willing to give it up in order to protect simple rights.
In the past week I've been taking in information from sources like Aaron Russo and most recently Chris Hedges. I watched his appearance on Democracy Now talking about his book American Fascists, regarding the new fundamentalist Christan movement. It was good to hear someone well informed about a subject and speak comprehensively on it. It certainly re-enforces my complete distrust of many people who call themselves Christians and loathing of these Christan leaders. I'm not sure if the term Fascism is over used or if people simply think its too far teched to happen in such a sudo-progressive culture though there are so many people today that fall right into such a category.
Although it has been out for awhile I finally got around to watching Aaron Russo's - From 'Freedom to Fascism'. Though it is a good story I am honestly fairly unsure what to take away from all of it. I certainly found myself paranoid of the IRS and the governments future plans after watching it. The story the documentary tells is almost too compelling in a way. That kind of conspiracy that lends itself to Hollywood. If even 70% of everything checks out, Americans are completely fucked. Shit is simply hopeless at so many levels.
