Windows Media Player 11 prefers Sole, Sage Francis, Ice Cube.

May 19, 2007 - Windows Media Player 11 prefers Sole, Sage Francis, Ice Cube.

I have no idea how random this shit really is sometimes. We have a new Windows Visa computer which serves some 2004 randomized MP3's all day at my work, less than 100 of these MP3's are Sage Francis, Sole or Ice Cube. For some reason, however, what I hear the majority of the day are those artists.

While we're on the subject; my Archos goes through long stints of playing Rockabilly, then back to playing all of the other shit I have. Rockabilly only accounts for 1% of the music I have on there.

I have written a fair number of randomized procedures in my time and I know the tricks to getting a decent random number. However, there is also very little small portable devices can do to achieve a truly random number, they just don't have the power to do so. At some point I'm sure there will be a chipset just for generating truly random number for portable devices.

Is it possible to equate this to these media devices having a personality?
