August 21, 2006 - Random Acts of Kindness
So this whole bombing plan that was discovered and inevitably ruptured by the Scotland Yard was/has been quite enjoyable. Its a fucking quarterly circus we seem to relive; A simple and 'meaningful' justification for this countries gas prices to go up, to further travel regulations in our airports, and the rich to exploit exchange rates.
It’s now the TSA's business as to what prescription drugs one is prescribed and carries on to a plane. Even beyond that, doctors must write notes for the legitimately ill that must carry ice packs for drugs that need to be kept cold. I shall reflect, only for a moment, on last years dealings with the 'security' in airports and the 4 or so lighters that happily traveled around the US with me. Whose business is it what drugs one is prescribed, except the patients and the doctors? Who is being protected here?
Personally I love flying and have big respect for the airlines. For those who don't share the same respect just remember that not too long ago it was the airlines who sparked true competition in business and lead the revolution in air travel. These new regulations the TSA constantly introduce are not for true safety. The long security lines and delayed flights only put more stress on US and other airlines which lead to further drain on our economy; this is not even including the high fuel prices. One could argue this keeps the airlines striving for efficiency; however that’s only to a point.
